Box Office: “The Last Exorcism” Battles “Takers”
Making for ever-the-close race, “The Last Exorcism” seems to have narrowly defeated “Takers” for the August 27-29 top spot at the box office.
According to studio estimates on Sunday, the Eli Roth driven horror flick had raked in $21.3 million in comparison to the star-studded Hayden Christensen/T.I. heist movie’s $21 million.
The closeness of the estimated earnings has led studios to hold off until Monday to officially claim the weekend winner.
Meanwhile, the past two weeks were topped by “The Expendables” – which fell to third place by making $9.5 million.
Rounding out the top five were Julia Roberts’ “Eat Pray Love” at fourth place with $6.9 million and Mark Wahlberg/Will Ferrell’s “The Other Guys” at fifth with $6.5 million.
